Last year for my birthday Terra and I wanted to go to Cancun. She flew all the way out here and we ended up going to Vegas because I didn't get ONE of my days picked up at the airport, so we couldn't go to Cancun. The day in Vegas was fun, but it wasn't Cancun.
We immediately started planning to go this year. Well, a several months ago she got a job, but doesn't get any vacation time because of when she started. That sucked. My OTHER friend Tara was talking about doing something for our birthday. (Terra's brithday is 3 weeks after mine. Tara's birthday is the day BEFORE mine. Confused yet?) Originally I was just going to invite Tara to join Terra and me in Cancun. Well now Terra couldn't do anything, so I started making plans with Tara. Tara wanted to go on a cruise. I haven't been on a cruise since I was 16, so this sounded like a plan.
A few months ago, Terra let me know that she CAN take time off from work, but it would be unpaid, and she was willing to do this to go somewhere cool for our birthday. AWESOME! The 3 of us will go on a cruise. Terra, Tara and I all went to Cost Rica together so we already know what we vacation well together.
We were looking into 3 and 4 day cruises to the Bahamas or Carribbean. We had settled on a 4 day cruise out of Orlando to the Bahamas that left on Monday, October 13th and returns on Friday, Ocotober 17th (my birthday). Terra asked if she could go and was told she could not take that many days off in a row. This sucks! Because Tara and I are flying standby to MCO, we will need to get there on Saturday, even though the cruise doesn't leave till Monday. At least maybe Terra can spend the weekend with us in Orlando.
THEN the 4 day cruise to the Bahamas out of Miami went on an AWESOME sale. So I tell Terra she should join us in Miami instead of Orlando. Wouldn't you know it. Her sister-in-law had a baby in July or August and is having the baby blessing the weekend we are going to be in Miami. WHAT ARE THE ODDS?! I mean seriously.
So, now Tara and I are going on a 4 night Cruise to the Bahama's out of Miami for less that $250! I am so excited to be going to the Bahama's and SO BUMMED that Terra can't go with us. I really want her to join us. Not that I don't understand why she isn't going, but it still sucks.
Unfortunately we can't change the week of the cruise because that is the only week in the entire month of October that both Tara and I are available to go, and that is the week of my vacation from the airline, which I can't change. :(
I have been looking at things to do while we are in port. Our itinerary is as follows:
Leave Miami on Monday. Tuesday in Nassau. Wednesday in CocoCay. Thursday in Key West. Return to Miami on Friday. I was looking at all the stuff we can do in port to see what our options are. Swimming with dolphins is one of the options. I have wanted to swim with dolphins as long as I can remember. Seriously, I can't remember a time when I didn't want to do that. Luckily for Tara, she wants to do it to. I am SO EXCITED. We leave in 4 weeks. :)
Oh, and when I booked the reservation, the girl asked for our birthdates. I gave them to her then mentioned that it was a trip for our birthdays. I'm pretty sure she made a note of it. I hope we get something cool, like a nice room or something. That would ROCK!
