Boy has it been a LONG time since I posted anything! Luckily, I almost have a good excuse!
My sister and my nieces flew in on the 3rd for the weekend. My dad's birthday was on the 9th and so we made arrangements to meet for golf and dinner on the 6th. I convinced my sister to come in for the weekend as a surprise for my dad.
We had a lot of fun. We took the girls to the botanical garden, including the butterfly pavilion. It was a lot of fun and I got to teach the girls about staying away from cacti, withou either of them getting injured first!
Because they do not have In N Out Burger in UT, we went there twice. The girls had never had it, and they both LOVED their burgers and ate the entire thing! It was crazy. (FYI: Chloe eats her burger with ketsup and extra pickles. Lucy eats her CHEESE burger with ketsup only, no pickles!)
We took the girls up to the swimming pool at the hotel where my dad works. (They have an awesome pool.) We went in the lazy river for a while and then we went over to another pool. It is long and shallow, almost like a lap pool, but shaped funny. It took a while but I finally convinced Chloe that she could touch the bottom of the pool and she thought that was the coolest. Lucy LOVES the pool. If you aren't careful she'll jump in even if you aren't ready for her. I know this from personal experience! It was a blast! When it was time to go Lucy look at me with a face that meant business and said "No. I get mad. I get very mad." It was great! It took everything in me not to laugh at her. In fact, she wouldn't get out. Jen had to tell her that they wouldn't come back the next day if she didn't get out, then had to start counting. Lucy still waited till Jen got to 4 before she even began to move. It was hillarious. She told us again that "I get very mad" at this point I told her that I was going to get very mad and I would rather she was mad than me.
We did surprise my dad. We went to his house to say hi. We were going to put the girls at the door and knock so when he answered the door, he would see them and they would say "Happy Birthday." Well, it turns out that he saw my car coming turning into his driveway (he did not see the passengers) so he came to meet me at the door. He caught me mid lean in knocking on the door. We didn't pull off the execution, but he was still very surprised! It was great! We met him on Sunday for breakfast then hung out till it was time to play golf. Jen took the girls to the pool where Chloe could touch while Dad and I played golf. We had dinner after that then came home. It was a lot of fun.
Jen and the girls left on Monday. I love my neices, but boy was I ready for the quiet!
