Pointless!

Things you need to know to understand this post.

1- I hate unions.
2- All posititions that are not management at the airport are union.
3- All union contracts for positions at the airport have been finalize, except ours.
4- Profit sharing checks are being distributed this week.
5- Whether or not your group recieves profit sharing, and the amount, is determined in your union contract.

I recieved word on Friday that we are going to be experiencing a "slow down" at the airport. Basically there are a few groups who either aren't getting any profit sharing or are not getting as much as they want. To show their unhappiness, they are not going to work as quickly as they should to get the flights out on time. Here's the kicker, they are not front line employees. That's right. These people have jobs necessary to make the airline run, but do not actually have to talk to passengers in any way.

This infuriates me! This "slow down" is going to piss off a lot of passengers, who are going to tell ME how displeased they are that their flight isn't leaving on time, or how unhappy they are that the didn't make their connection because their plane did not leave on time. Can you blame them? I can't!

I can't tell you how many times I hear from these slacker employees how they could never do my job because they can't handle working with people. Then why are you making my job harder?! It's not like you are going to accomplish anything positive! All you are going to do is piss off passengers, many of whom are going to tell me how they are never going to fly with our airline again, and some of those are actually going to mean it. So now all you've successfully done is reduce profits for next year.

Oh wait, just kidding, there is something you are doing. The airline gives us a bonus of $50 each month if our airline is in DOT top 3 for on time arrivals. I guess we can kiss that one good bye.

So let's recap. You are not going to change the terms of your contract, we are going to lose customers, we are ALL going to lose money this month, and you are giong to reduce the profit sharing that the rest of us get.
