Just when you think you have everything figured out.

PREFACE: I have been applying for full time positions with the airline. I have been in AZ for a year and a half now and decided that it was time to take the next step in getting a legal job with the airline.

In July and August I had a number of interviews. 2 for a position in Group A and 2 for a position in Group B. I REALLY wanted the position in Group B. The job in Group B sounded interesting, but it didn't pay as well and the position in Group B sounded MORE interesting.

Anyway, A offered me a position, but I told them I was waiting to hear back from B, because that was the position that I really wanted. They agreed to give me time to decide.

A few weeks later I received an email from A letting me know I wasn't chosen for the job. I contacted them to see if there was anyway they could change their mind because I didn't want to lose that one only to find out I wasn't chosen for B either. It took 4 days, but there were still positions available and they offered one to me.

What you need to know is that I kept them informed as to the status of the B position as much as I could. I contacted B weekly to see if there was any new information. The last email I sent to them was on August 24th.

Anyway, on August 24th I accepted a position with A. I was scheduled to start on Monday, September 10th. Notice has been given to all of my employers.

FAST FORWARD TO YESTERDAY: I received an email from B offering me a position. I called and talked to the guy because I wanted the job, but I had already accepted the job with A. He said that as long as they released me from the job I was good to go. I sent an email to the manager, 2 assistant managers and the recruiter asking to be let out of the position. I received out of office replies from the manager and one of the assistant managers. They will be out until Monday. DAMN!

Today I called generic recruiting to find out what my options were in this situation. She told me all I had to do was turned down the job with Group A and accept the job with group B. I tried to call the 2 people in the office with Group A, but they did not answer, so I sent another email apologizing for my actions, and turning down their position with the explination that I was offered job B.

Anyway. That long story was to explain this short piece of info.

I will be starting my new position with the airline on October 15th. I am VERY excited about it. It is an incredible promotion and I will FINALLY be making enough money that I will only NEED to work one job. The reality is that I will probably get a 2nd job so I can pay off my bills faster and be able to get a new car sooner.

The bad news is that I will no longer be able to take my trip to Germany from October 21st - 27th. The silver lining is that I will try to go in the Spring and I will be able to stay longer because I will have more days off!
