Terra and I woke up around 9am on Friday. I called my dad to see if he could get us into the pool at his hotel that day. He called back around 10 saying that we were all set.
We stopped and got breakfast at my favorite place then headed up to the hotel. We got there around noon. It was AWESOME! There was hardly anyone there and so we were able to just chill in a tube and float around the lazy river and talk. It felt like we had been there forever, when really we had only been there about 2 hours. It was great. I had to be at work at 6:30 that night (I wasn't able to get that shift off) so around 3:30 we got some food then I showed Terra around the hotel some more. I made sure to take her to the spa. It is my favorite place on earth after all. Next time, I will give my dad more notice and see if he can hook us up for some spa services. :)
From the hotel we drove about 2 minutes north and were in the desert. Terra wanted to get a picture with a saguaro. We ended up taking a really neat one. We headed back home and I got ready for work.
I was pretty sure it would be slow and I wouldn't have to stay much later than 8pm, but when I got to work I was told that I was being sent down to baggage claim. WHAT?! There was no way I would be out early! I got down there and talked to the sup (she likes me), she said that I could go home as soon as everyone had taken their breaks. You have never seen me push so hard for people to take their breaks before. When it was slow I was sending them 2 at a time!
I finally got to go around 9 so I went upstairs to the ticket counter and starting searching for another way to get Terra home since the non stop to CLT was full. I found her a flight from PHX to DFW with a short layover then from DFW to CLT. This started at 6:45am in PHX, but got her into CLT to try for 3 flights from CLT to Knoxville, which were full but not oversold.
We didn't get much sleep Friday night/Saturday morning before it was time to leave for the airport at 5:45 am. (I love working for the airline and not having to get to the airport to freaking early! Oh yeah, it helps that I live close too.) We made it to the gate at 6:15am. Terra got a seat, it was a middle. I went to another computer to see if there were any other options. There were LOTS of empty rows on the flight. I went back to the agent for her flight and asked if I could move Terra to one of these rows. The agent is someone I had worked with, and thought she like me enough. Well, I was wrong. She was short with me and pissy and told me I couldn't change Terra's seat. Whatever. I walked back over to Terra and told her to sit in a specific row that I knew was empty. No one would challenge her and any other passengers wouldn't know she hadn't paid for the seat. I think the agent heard me telling Terra this and THEN told me that the flight was weight restricted and that was why she couldn't change the seat. Whatever. It didn't change the info I was giving Terra because I was telling her to sit in the row directly in front of her assigned seat.
Anyway, Terra got on the flight and it turns out that she made it on her connection in DFW no problem, which I knew she would, and that she also made the first flight to Knoxville. AWESOME! She was home by 6pm that Saturday night.
It was a lot of fun to see Terra and I'm really glad we got to do fun stuff, and that with the exception of her bag being stuck in LAX, everything else went off with out a hitch!
