When we landed in Phoenix we went behind the counter to see if anyone had picked up any more of my shifts. I still needed to get Thursday, Friday and Saturday off. No one had. Several people I knew were in the computer room we were in and I ended up being able to talk a girl I had gone through training with to pick up Thursday for me. Right on!
We got back to the house and I gave Terra her options as to what we could do the next day.
1) Fly to Southern California and spend a day on the beach.
2) Fly to Vegas to see Stomp Out Loud. She had expressed an interest in seeing this when we were on the flights to and from SLC. It is one of the ads run on the plane before the plane takes off.
3) Call my dad and hang out at the pool/spa at the hotel where he works.
She chose option 2. So Thursday afternoon we flew to Vegas. We landed right around 3. We went straight to the Planet Hollywood casino to buy tickets to the show. I had done several searches from home and decided that we didn't want to pay Ticketmaster's service charge and that the show wasn't even close to being sold out.
We paid $50 each for the tickets and the girl who sold them to us said she could give us better seats for the same price. We were all over that and has INCREDIBLE seats for the show. It was now around 4 and the show didn't start until 8. Terra had never been to Vegas so we starting walking around to the different casinos nearby.
First we went to the Rain Forest Cafe in the MGM Grand for lunch. After lunch we walked over and saw the lions. That was pretty cool. From there we walked further south. I don't remember the exact order we saw the casinos in, but we went to the Luxor, Excalibur (where I bought us each a flower crown and she bought her "knight" husband a souvenir mug), New York New York, Monte Carlo and the Bellagio. Then we went and saw Stomp Out Loud. If you have never seen stomp, I HIGHLY recommend it. I had seen them once before and it is incredible every time.
After the show, we went into Paris Las Vegas and Caesars Palace. Then we returned to Bellagio to see the water show. By that time it was around 10:30 so we headed to the airport to catch our flight back to Phoenix which left at midnight. We got to the airport around 10:50. I contemplated seeing if we could make the 10:56pm flight to PHX, but decided that we weren't in that big of a rush.
We finally got on our flight, which was mostly empty, and had a whole row to ourselves. Then we sat, and sat, and sat. It turns out the 10:56 had returned to the gate for some reason and so they decided to put all of those passengers on our flight. The flight was still not full, but I began to worry that someone would sit between us. I really wanted that row so we could sleep (that is the one thing we really didn't do much of this trip!). In the end we lucked out and no one sat down between us. We landed in PHX around 2am made it home and crashed!
It was a LOT of fun, and now Terra knows what it is like to decided that you want to hop on a plane and go somewhere on a whim and actually be able to do it!
