Happy New Year Lulu

So I went home to SLC for New Year's because I wasn't able to go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I had wanted to go out with friends for the actual New Year's event, but those plans fell through, so I spent the evening with my sister and her family.

I rented Stardust and made them watch it. Sidebar: If you haven't seen Stardust, you should. It is a great adult fairytale and okay for the kids. Think Princess Bride, but different story line. It is my new favorite movie.

Jen had told Chloe that she could stay up till midnight this year, not thinking that she would make it. Lucy fell asleep in the car around 7 or 8, but she woke up again around 10. I lost. I fell asleep first around 11:15. Okay, I actually fell asleep near the end of the movie, woke back up and then fell asleep for the last time at 11:15. Chloe crashed next around 11:30. (That's right, the 5 year old lasted longer than I did. But in my defense, I had gone out with friends to a bar on Saturday and only got 3 hours of sleep Saturday night/Sunday morning and I had been drinking cosmos while we watched the movie.) Jon crashed next around 11:45 (I was buzzed, he was DRUNK). At midnight, Jen and Lucy were the only ones still awake. They were sitting in Jen's bed watching TV when the clock struck midnight.

Jen: "Happy New Year Lulu."
Lucy: "Merry Christmas Mommy."
Jen: "Not Merry Christmas, Happy New Year."
Lucy: "Oh. Happy New Year Mommy."

They then shared the rest of a Vanilla Coke Jen had next to her bed.
