Monday, September 29th - I call the property manager to see what they can do about my situation with the rent. I basically don't know if I will be able to get my paycheck in time to pay my rent on time. I have to call the temp agency at 2pm to find out if I can pick up my paycheck on Wednesday. I am set to pay my rent through autodraft, so I also have to get that canceled.
I've talked to the girl who answered the phone before. She isn't the nicest person, but she isn't mean either. I explain the situation to her and she tells me rent is due on the 1st. I explain that I don't have anyway to pay, no checks, no debit card, and I don't know when the funds will be available once I deposit the check in my account. I swear she suggested that I go to a check cashing place to cash my paycheck so that I can pay them ontime. I told her there was NO WAY that I was going to spend my money at a check cashing place so they could get paid and asked again if there was anyway they could help my by allowing me to pay the rent late, if I need to, and not charge a late fee. I was kind of starting to freak out, and she changed her tune after I told her I wasn't going to pay someone just so they could get their money. She finally agreed that if I call and keep her posted she won't process me to be evicted if the payment isn't on time. Yep, you heard me, she made sure to let me know I would be evicted if this wasn't taken care of. Nice. She is offically the last person I want to deal with in that office.
Wednesday, October 1st, I spend my lunch driving 20 minutes to the temp agency, then across town to the one branch of my bank to deposit my paycheck and get new debit cards. I place an order for new checks while I am there. I got to choose the design on my debit card and they made it right there in the office. It was pretty cool. I walk out with money in my account, and access to it. Things are starting to look up. I get back to work and pay my rent electronically. At least that is taken care of.
At somepoint this week I called all my employers to verify that all my direct deposit info has been changed. It has. Things are getting better. I know have to go around and change my debit card number on all my auto draft stuff. This still sucks. I call Paypal, they have no idea how much longer it will be and it looks like the jerk who broke in tried another transaction. I have Paypal put a lockdown on my account. Now noone can access the account except a paypal employee, not even me. Good. 10 minutes later a paypal employee calls me because my bank rejected the transaction. I tell her that is because my bank has been told to reject ALL paypal transactions until this whole thing is resolved. She verifies the lockdown on my account and hangs up. She calls back 5 minutes later to make sure I REALLY want the lockdown on my account. I assure her that I know what it is and that I really do want it. I should tell you that I wasn't giving info to a random person. The call came from the same area code and 1st 3 digits as the number I have been calling.
The next day I get ANOTHER call from paypal about my account, the lockdown and the rejected transactions. I assure her AGAIN that I know about all of it and it is correct. I will call after I get the security key, until then I want my account on lockdown.
The security key arrived at somepoint. It is a random number generator that you have added to your Paypal and ebay accounts. You can not access your account without the number. It is only $5. I HIGHLY recommend it if you use paypal/ebay. This will NOT happen to you if you have one.
At last I am feeling like my life is returning to normal.
