Chloe's Friend Party

Chloe had a friend party on Saturday. Her self proclaimed "BFF" Tacey was there, so it didn't really matter who else was there, which was good cause there were 2 boys from her class there and each brought their older sister (My sis and I don't know why), and that was it.

I took the kids to play outside while Jen, Jon, and Jannette (Jen's friend), finished setting up lunch. While I was trying to remember what was fun in 1st grade someone suggested "Simon Says," so we played that for a while. Then someone suggested "Red Light, Green Light," so we played that for a while. Someone suggested "Duck, Duck, Goose!," so we played that for a while. It was a LOT of fun. The kids were running around laughing and having a good time. Someone came out and announced that lunch was ready.

We all went inside and had "Make Your Own Tortilla Pizzas." We handed out tortillas with sauce on them and the kids added the toppings they wanted. Because we only had to wait for the cheese to melt, they cooked quickly, which is good when feeding 7 year olds! It was fun, and the kids CHOWED!

We then opened presents and the kids played in the play room while the adults ate, then cleaned up lunch and set up for "Decorate Your Own Cupcakes."

It was so funny to watch the kids frost their own cupcakes then add differnt kinds of sprinkles. The most common idea was to add ALL the different kinds of sprinkles to one cupcake.

We then took all the kids BACK outside, this time to play with Jon and wait for parents to come and get them, while Jen, Jannette and I cleaned everything up.

Chloe had a blast and one kid said it was the best birthday party he had ever been to. Jen was very happy to hear both of these things.

Did you notice the theme? I HIGHLY recommend "Make Your Own..." when dealing with kids this age. There is SO MUCH LESS prep and clean up and the kids are entertained for longer.
