My car registration renewal was due in February. I'm not sure how I forgot about it, but I did. Luckily, I remembered it myself, before a cop had to remind me. :)
Since I now live in a part of the valley that I don't know at all, I looked up where the closest location for emissions inspection. After some digging, I found a place reasonably close to work. They were slow, so I headed down.
AZ allows you to register your car for 2 years at a time. I was told I couldn't do it my first year here and planned on doing it last year. Something went wrong when I got my emissions test done because the online registration renewal didn't give me the option for 2 years. I was DETERMINED to get it this year.
I asked the guy at the testing location about it and he told me I'm not eligible because my car has all wheel drive. I would have been less surprised if he had told me it was because my car is too old, but whatever. At least now I know.
I left and went to work, where I started looking for a MVD nearby so I can by my car registration in cash. WHAT?! There is a MVD RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the emissions testing location I had JUST been at! So I drove BACK to where I had JUST BEEN and got my number and began to wait.
I didn't think it would take long. I was #K715 and K712 was currently being helped. 35 minutes later K712 was STILL being helped. All the other numbers where being called up very quickly. It was clear that only ONE WINDOW was assisting with registration renewals. grrrrrrr.
The woman FINALLY left and the agent at the window spent a full 5 minutes DICKING AROUND before calling the next number. Don't get me wrong, I could see that he was entering notes and doing other job necessary activities, but it reached the point when he wasn't doing that anymore. THANK GOD, another person who could do renewals FINALLY decided to help. They called up K713 & 714. I was watching them intently making bets as to who would be helping me. I was convinced it would be the second agent, cause the first was moving slower than molasses. My number was finally called, by a DIFFERENT agent. I don't know who called in the cavalry but I was sure glad they had.
It took all of about 2 minutes and I was on my way.
