Have you heard about the NEW "Zion Curtain?"
This is AWESOME. Some dope wants to pass a bill forcing restaurants to mix their drinks either in a separate room, or behind a 10' wall. Their goal is to that CHILDREN can't see the drinks being mixed because it entices them to drink. No, that is not a typo, that is what they believe.
And get this! Because they lost the court case regarding advertising alcoholic beverages in restaurants, they can't remove the drink ads OR the display bottles. ALL THEY CAN DO IS FORCE THE BARTENDER TO MIX THE DRINKS WHERE NO ONE CAN SEE THEM. Cause watching someone mix a drink is so much fun. For the first time EVER, it isn't about the presentation.
This is my favorite quote from the article:
"Our family values would be competing with a social norm that glamorizes alcohol," said Kris Kimball, a mother of two teen children. She said the blenders and maraschino cherries "look kind of tantalizing" to children.
"I'm not concerned with them ordering a drink. I'm concerned … about them being in an environment where they witness the mixing [and consumption]," she said. "It's scary. It's bombarding them."
Cause blenders and cherries are the problem. No more MILKSHAKES FOR YOU!
If you want some good reading check out this article about how this bill directly opposes another bill that is trying to make Utah's liquor laws not seems so strange and work on getting the membership crap removed.
On the same topic, you can also check out this article about selling "full strength" beer on tap.
