So I have had my sister's cat, Eddie, for just over 2 months now. I am SO glad that I got him. His is an awesome companion, in fact, he has a number of traditionally dog like traits, and not so much cat like traits.
1- He is sitting by the door waiting for me when I get home from work. I swear this cat is sitting at the door watching it for me to open it when I get home. I know he doesn't sit there all day, because if I come home at lunch, he isn't there, because he isn't expecting me. It is really nice to have him there to welcome me home, even if all he does is meow so I will feed him. :)
2- He comes when called. If he is not in the same room as me, all I have to do is make kissing noises and he comes to me. No really, it works. It is great!
3- When I am home, he is next to me. He lays on the bed next to me and he lays on the couch next to me. On the couch he most often lays on me, but that is mostly because there is so much shit on the couch there is nowhere else for him TO lay. The bed is a different story. I have a queen size bed and just me. He sleeps right next to me, up near my head. I even recently figured out that he sleeps on whichever side of the bed I am facing. Yep, if I am sleeping on my right side, he is on the right side of the bed. If I am sleeping on my left, he is on the left side of the bed. If I roll over, he walks over the top of me to switch sides of the bed. He always lays were I can reach him. When he wants to be pet, he nuzzles my hand with his head. He loves to be scratched, not stroked, but scratched on the head. When he gets tired of it, he turns so his head is not near me. I have learned the hard way, not to pet him after he turns. That is DEFINITELY the cat.
The best thing about Eddie is that he LOVES to spend the day in bed. On the RARE occasions that I get to stay in bed all day, he is right there with me, all day. When I get up, even if it is just to go to the bathroom, he meows at me. He meows at me until I get back in bed. It is SO CUTE!
I am so glad that I got a cat. :)
