When I was around 19 I started having symptoms of adult onset allergies. I went to a allergist and took the horrible spot test then did allergy shots to "cure" my allergies. It worked and I was happy.
Then I moved to Arizona. Because I was allergic to weeds and grasses in UT, it only stood to reason that there would be some new ones in AZ that I was allergic too. It got so bad I was having headaches, so I finally went into an allergist to go through the spot test and have begun the allergy shots again.
You would think with all my surgeries, I would be okay with needles, but I'm not. I really don't like them. This isn't debilitating mind you, but it is annoying, kind of like a nat that won't get out of your face.
When I did the shots in SLC I got used to it. They made a syrum just for me and they gave me one shot, up high on my arm. I could barely feel it, and I liked it that way.
This place doesn't do that. They have all the bottles of allergens and they give you a shot from each rather than making a personalized concoction. This means I am getting 3 shots everytime I go in. One for cats, one for weeds and grasses, and one for trees (even though I am only allergic to one tree). They give 1 shot in one arm and 2 in the other. The nurse in the clinic whose job it is to administer the shots doesn't give a DAMN about it not hurting. I think she goes out of her way to give you the shot as low on your arm as she possibly can, without making it obvious what she is doing.
It is a good thing that I know the shots will work, or I wouldn't be putting myself through this torture twice a week. I can't WAIT till I only have to go in once a month.
